If you are considering counselling for the first time, I offer a free 15-minute introductory session.
You may be wondering whether counselling would be helpful for what you are currently experiencing, or what the process would look like. During this short conversation, you can briefly share what has brought you to counselling and what you are looking for. We can also discuss how I may be able to support you and answer any questions you may have.
After speaking together, you can decide whether you would like to continue with counselling. There is no obligation to book further sessions.
The first counselling session provides time to talk in more detail about what you are currently experiencing and what has brought you to counselling.
We will explore your concerns, relevant experiences, your current circumstances and relationships, and begin to make sense of what may be happening for you. Together, we can consider what you would like to work on and how counselling might best support you going forward.
You do not need to prepare or organise everything you want to say beforehand. If you are not sure where to begin, we can start wherever feels most natural and take things at a pace that feels manageable for you.
For those who would like to talk in more detail from the beginning, I offer a 65-minute session combining the 15-minute free introductory session with a 50-minute first counselling session.
This allows us to begin with a brief introduction and discussion of what you are looking for, followed by more time to explore your current concerns and relevant background in greater depth.
From the second session onwards, we will continue from what we have discussed in the initial session, while also making space for what you are experiencing at the time.
As we talk, we can explore your thoughts and feelings, relationships, recurring patterns, and everyday experiences from different perspectives. The focus can develop naturally according to what is most relevant to you at each stage of the counselling process.
Sessions take place at a pace that feels manageable for you.
Counselling is not usually something that can be resolved in a single session. Depending on the nature of your concerns and your individual circumstances, it can take time to understand what is happening, work through difficult experiences, and develop changes that can be sustained over time. For some people, counselling may continue for several sessions, while for others it may involve a longer period of ongoing work.
To make it easier to continue counselling regularly, I offer a package of four sessions. Having sessions at regular intervals can provide continuity and allow us to build on what emerges from one session to the next, while giving you the time and space to work at your own pace.
This package is available for those who would like to continue with counselling on a regular basis.

Couples counselling provides a space to carefully listen to each partner’s perspective and to explore what is happening within the relationship.
The first 30 minutes are spent listening to one partner’s perspective, including what they are currently experiencing and finding difficult. The following 30 minutes are spent listening to the other partner.
During the final 30 minutes, the experiences and perspectives shared by both partners are brought together to explore what is happening within the relationship, including recurring patterns, misunderstandings, and difficulties in communication. Together, we consider how these patterns may be understood and how the couple might approach them going forward.
For couples in international or intercultural relationships, differences in language, cultural background, family values, expectations, and everyday ways of living can also influence the relationship. Rather than viewing these differences simply as differences in personality, the counselling process takes each partner’s background into account while exploring ways to understand each other and find greater mutual understanding.
By looking at recurring difficulties from an outside perspective, couples counselling can provide an opportunity to better understand each partner’s experience and explore ways of building a more satisfying relationship.
“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart.
Who looks outside dreams; who looks inside awakes.”
